At first this may not be the best method because it is a major investment. Indeed the construction of a bute requires a significant amount of work.

The soil must be dug to collect soil, find wood, at least a portion of which must be decomposed, and in sufficient quantity to fill the hole. It is also necessary to have a large amount of branches, if possible with foliage especially if the land was previously grown in conventional agriculture. It takes a cover for the ground and often planks to hold the mound on a height of about forty centimeters. All the mounds that we realized were dug by hand which is an important work. It should rather work with a small excavator. To cover 1000 m2 of mounds, it is a real work of 3 to 4 weeks when it is done with elbow oil and four days with adapted tools.

So why choose mounds instead of classic gardening?

The amount of work for the operation of a hillock is much less than for conventional gardening.
The quantity of water required for abundant production is much lower than that of all other gardening techniques. In the coming years, our country will face a great water shortage.
The amounts of vegetables produced by a mound are far superior to what a conventional gardening produces.
Resistance to pest attack is much more sustainable on a hillock.
Of course, all of this is very dependent on the driving of gardening on the mounds, but also on the driving of the whole farm.
